What do laptop repair services include?
If you’re a laptop owner, chances are you use it regularly for work, school, gaming, or other everyday purposes. Like appliance problems, laptop issues are bound to come up at the most inconvenient time.
Laptop repair services solve both hardware and software problems. Hardware repair includes issues with physical components, such as the screen, keyboard, touchpad, hinge, and battery. Meanwhile, software repair covers all the system, utility, and applications that run on the device.
Here’s an overview of laptop repair services you can book on Airtasker:
Laptop hardware repair
Laptops have delicate parts that go through wear and tear. Something as minor as a missing keyboard key can affect your experience. Meanwhile, constant lagging, overheating, and startup failure can be more disastrous. A laptop repair service can fix the issue by doing a thorough inspection and troubleshooting.
Your technician may open up the laptop, disassemble it, and swap parts to repair your computer. The technician may also identify parts that need replacement and, depending on your agreement, obtain these parts for you.
Here are the most common laptop hardware issues:
Motherboard – startup problems, video display issues
Laptop screen – stuck pixel, vertical lines, dimmed or cracked display
Laptop keyboard – unresponsive or missing keys
Laptop hinge – a loose or broken hinge
Laptop battery – worsening battery life or not charging unless plugged in
Connectivity repair
A key advantage of owning a laptop is that you can take it anywhere and connect to any available wireless network. However, these devices aren’t immune to WiFi concerns — be it constant disconnection, failure to show available networks, or failing to connect at all. A connectivity repair includes diagnosing the problem and checking the drivers, relevant software, and power settings. If the problem turns out to be the WiFi modem or extender, a professional WiFi technician can help you out.
Laptop performance repair & upgrades
Older laptops may be more susceptible to damage, but they don’t have to be a lost cause. Suppose your computer has significantly slowed down, or it undergoes frequent hanging. In this case, a laptop repair specialist may diagnose the problem and give your laptop a new lease on life. Upgrading your hardware (e.g., the RAM or graphics card) can be another way to combat laptop performance woes.
While upgrading your laptop, you can consider doing other upgrades in your home, such as new sockets and switches.
Troubleshooting for laptop accidents
Spilled coffee on your laptop? Dropped your laptop accidentally? For emergencies like these, technicians can walk you through giving your laptop “first-aid” to alleviate the problem. Then, you can book a nearby laptop repair specialist who can come right over and fix your device.

I have a brand new laptop for my wife which I bought 3 years ago, but she only used it 4 times in those 3 years The laptop wouldn't start at first, but I unplugged the power and battery, discharged it for 1 minute then turned it back on. That still didn't work It gave me multiple blue screens before (unmountable drive, other errors). I removed the hard drive from the laptop and onto my PC motherboard, it repaired the windows, and I started copying some of my files, but 5 minutes into copying it just died on me, froze. When I restarted, the blue screen came back on I tried replacing the hard drive with an identical laptop hard drive that is working (my brother's) but it wouldn't boot. I even tried booting it with a USB with windows 10 mounted on it (Wintogo) but it wouldn't boot as well, even though my PC booted using the same USB I think it's time I have a professional look at it to identify the problem. I have an ASUS Zenbook UX360U.
